First off, I'm sure I'm not the only one still reeling from the news that Sonic will be showing up in Smash Bros Brawl. I was a Sonic fan way before I got into Nintendo, in fact in addition to this blog I draw for the unofficial Sonic the Comic continuation STC-O. Needless to say I'm pretty hyped up at the idea of finally playing the Sonic vs Mario bouts I used to imagine when I was about 7!
For now I've got a just a couple of updates, new sketches of Young Link (Ocarina style) and Zero Suit Samus.
I've got more stuff on the go, and hopefully I'll get round to doing a couple of coloured pieces too so more updates soon, I really want to make this more regular.
Cheers for visiting!
Zak.

Leon
This one's a real quickie, I wish I'd had a bit more time to spend on it but there you go!
Not strictly a Nintendo property, but the fourth (and probably best) Resident Evil game was designed for a Nintendo platform and has recently seen a re-release on the Wii.
I've got a few new drawings on the go and in my sketchbook so hopefully there'll be more updates soon when I get round to doing some scanning!

Link!
Apologies for the abysmally long gap since the last update, I was working on my minicomic for the Bristol Comics Expo and ran out of time for everything else!
Anyway, here's my latest piece, it's an older Link sketch of his Twilight Princess incarnation but freshened up with a spot of colour. I may well go back and tweak the background but otherwise I'm pretty happy with it.
Cheers for stopping by!

Just a quickie!
As the title suggests.
This one's a quick colour job of the Mario I posted last time round.
Here's another YouTube vid that's worth a look, it's got some awesome animation!
I heard a year or so ago that Nintendo were planning a foray into animation, I'm just not sure if anything ever came of it. I know this ad has nothing to do with it but Nintendo would be missing a trick if they never released 2d film (with a healthy budget of course) based on any of their main franchises.

Some new doodles!
Hey there,
Got a few new sketches up!
First off a Smash Bros Quickie. I want to make a series of drawings for this game, mostly because I like the contrast between the silly and serious characters. As a rough starting point then, I give you Snake and Pikachu!
I noticed that I forgot Pika's stripes, I might give it a quick colour job later and add them then.
I call this a Nintendo art blog but I can't believe I haven't done any Mario drawings yet, here's one to rectify that!
And last but not least...
I know this character isn't really Nintendo but with all the rumours of a Wii-bound sequel on the way I couldn't help but do a quick sketch of everyone's favourite genderless dream jester thing.
(NiGHTs if you hadn't already guessed!)
The Saturn game was a defining moment in Sonic Team's ( and the Saturn's) career. I hope the Wii version, if it is indeed in the works, can live up to it.
One more thing to share, this is surely the greatest advert ever put to film, enjoy!

Link!
This is 'Ocarina' Link, it's all Photoshop. Hopefully I'll have more work to post in the not too distant future!
I find that apart from the Wind Waker version of Link I essentially draw him as the same character no matter which game I'm depicting him from. I'll try to make a conscious effort from hereon in to have a bit more of the various versions' individuality show through.
I'd like to try drawing some more obscure Nintendo characters too but at the moment I'm playing so much Twilight Princess that most of my output's related to Zelda!
Enjoy!

Midna!
As I'm unfortunately too broke to buy a Wii at the moment I've had a really hard time trying to track down Twilight Princess for the gamecube. Thankfully I finally managed to get hold of a copy a couple of days ago and I must say I'm loving it. Zelda is probably my favourite videogame series and I rate Ocarina as the greatest game ever made. I'm only starting out on my quest at the moment but so far I'm loving TP, the atmosphere is incredible and the level design is classic Zelda but feels brand new! Here's a quick colour job over my Midna sketch, she's got a very different design to what I'd usually associate with a Zelda game but it's very fun and quirky too.

Welcome!
First off thanks for stopping by, this is the first Blog I've ever bothered to create but hopefully it'll be something I'll enjoy doing and other people enjoy visiting. I've been a fan of plenty of art and animation blogs but I was always concerned that if I started my own it'd get left to collect virtual dust, mostly if I couldn't find something interesting to post. In the end I decided that I always manage to end up drawing Nintendo characters so why not use that as the basic structure for a blog?
Hopefully knowing that I've signed up for this will encourage me to draw more and improve my draughtsmanship in the process.
Anyway, without further ado here are the first drawings to go up!
They were all done this morning with Pentel blue's.
Thanks again for taking a look,
Zak.
